What we look for in bare copper wire
Bare copper ground wire is the cleanest material in this whole business. There is no jacket to strip, no insulation to grade and no question about what is inside it. Soft-drawn solid and stranded bare copper in 8, 6, 4, 2, 1/0 and 4/0 turns up as surplus on every grounding-heavy job: substations, data centers, solar sites and telecom builds.
We buy it on wooden reels, in coils and loose, and we buy tinned bare copper as well. Because bare copper trades close to the copper market itself, our number on it is transparent and easy to explain, and it is usually the fastest part of a mixed load to agree on.
If you have bare copper mixed in with insulated wire on the same pallet, that is normal and it is not a problem. We price the bare copper on its own basis and the insulated material on its own basis, then give you one number for the load and one payment.
