Southwire Wire Buyers

Southwire is the most common print line we see on surplus building wire in the United States. THHN, XHHW-2, SIMpull constructions, NM-B and bare copper all turn over constantly, and a legible Southwire print on a full reel makes a lot easy to resell.

01You Are Paid Before It Moves

Funds change hands before a single reel leaves your property. There is no consignment and no waiting on a downstream resale.

02No Sorting Or Stripping

You are never asked to sort, measure, strip or re-spool anything. Our team grades the material from photos and our own inspection.

03We Cover Freight and Loading

Trucks, forklifts, reel handling and pallet wrapping are billed to us. That cost is already priced into the offer you receive.

04Mixed Lots Are Welcome

Full reels, partial reels, boxed coils, loose cut-offs and several different constructions on one skid are all normal to us.

Southwire material by type

We pay upfront, require no sorting, and cover the freight and the loading at our own cost — the same terms on every purchase regardless of whose print line is on the jacket.

We buy Southwire product across every construction we handle. Pick the type that matches your material for sizes, packaging and condition detail.

MC & AC Cable

Metal-clad and armored cable in coils and cartons, including whips and prefab assemblies.

Bare Copper Wire

Soft-drawn and tinned bare copper ground wire, solid and stranded, on reels and in coils.

THHN & THWN Wire

The single most common surplus building wire: 12 AWG through 750 MCM, full reels, partials and coils.

Scrap Wire & Cable

Used, cut, burnt and stripped-out wire priced on recovery value, by the load.

Overstock & Cancelled Order Wire

Distributor overstock, obsolete stock and cancelled-order reels bought by the pallet or truckload.

Fire Alarm & Low Voltage Cable

FPLR and FPLP fire alarm cable, plus Cat6, coax and security cable in boxes and on spools.

What moves the number on Southwire material

  • Conductor size, and whether it is a common trade size.
  • Copper versus aluminum, which is usually the largest single factor.
  • Full unopened reels and sealed cartons versus partials.
  • Whether the print line and reel tag are still legible.
  • Insulation type: THHN, XHHW-2 and MC resell fastest.
  • Indoor storage versus years of sun and weather exposure.

Selling Southwire wire

Straight answers

Do you only buy Southwire wire?

No. We buy every print line, and unbranded material as well. The manufacturer affects the resale pool and therefore the price, but it never determines whether we are interested.

My Southwire reel tag is missing. Is that a problem?

Not a serious one. Photograph the jacket instead. The print line repeats along the length of the conductor and usually carries the size, the insulation type and the voltage rating, which is most of what we need.

Is older Southwire stock worth anything?

Frequently yes. Copper does not expire and insulation compounds hold up well indoors. What matters is gauge, construction and storage condition rather than the year it was manufactured.
